On Kosher Breakfast…

Praise the Lord, I am up, and ready for the day after sleeping for a few hours last night. I am still suffering the effects of jet lag. Today we journey to Cesarea to begin with then on to the Galillee region to the North. I’ll post some photo’s tonight, but first a word on Kosher breakfasts. When I get to breakfast this morning, I will not find any meat products served with the meal. This is disappointing to be sure, but is based on a rabinnical interpretation of Deut. 14:21 which says, “Thou shal not seethe a kid in its mother’s milk.” This has been interpreted by the Rabbi’s to mean that you cannot serve dairy and meat together. The meaning of this text is uncertain, but I doubt this interpretation is correct. It seems unjust to keep a man from a hearty serving of bacon and sausage with his scrambled eggs. Oh well, perhaps I’ll shed a few pounds before my return. All the best – Have a great day as you rejoice in the goodness of our great God! Today’s photo is of the alley way which takes you to Simon the Tanner’s house in Yafa (Joppa). The other photo is from my hotel window!

  1. Dear Pastor Herb, I love you photos and blog, superb, and humorous. Question, what is the beautiful background at the top?? Mo

    • That background is from one of the interior rooms of the Boston Public library. A picture which I took during a visit there in the fall of ’08. I’m glad you like it!
