Well, I’m on my way to Edmonton AB. I’ve never been this far west in Canada before and I’m looking forward to it. Most of all I am excited to deepen my friendship with Pastor Dave Pruden and my cousin, the Assistant Pastor Kevin Burrill. I count it a privilege to meet the believers of this church and to minister among them.
If you’re reading this blog and you know me, please pray for God’s grace to be evident in the preaching this week. I admit, I am nervous…strange after 10+ years of preaching, I know. I consider myself unequal to the task of opening God’s Word and exposing people to the truth of its message. I will need God’s grace to handle the text of scripture in a way that is true to tjhe meaning of the text, and I will need the Holy Spirit to connect the truth to the heart of the listenener.
Preaching is a serious task, not only because it invoves handling the eternal word of God, but also because it challenges the souls of people. I am certianly not adequate to the task! All of us carry the treasure of the gospel in jars of clay (2 Corinthians 4:7), it’s a priceless treasure in a common container! Pray!
Remember the folks of Lighthouse Baptist Church in your prayers too, that God would use the Word to change them – and me – into the image of Jesus through our week together. If you want, you can stop by their website at http://www.lighthousebaptist.ca.
I’ll pray for you too, as the Word of God goes forth on Sunday. See you all in a week or so!
